Buddhism was founded around the fifth century B.C. by Siddhartha Guatama,
widely known as the "the Buddha". Buddhism is often referred to as the
"teachings of the Awakened One". The state of awakening to the
'true nature of reality' is also known as Enlightenment,
Bodhi, Satori, Liberation, and Nirvana.
