The Vesica Piscis is formed by the intersection of two spheres, bringing the outside edges of each to the midway point of the other. When the Vesica Piscis is placed vertically it forms the shape of a "fish" which translates into Greek as "icthys" ,an acronym for "Jesus Christ Son of God Savior". Early Christians adopted the fish symbol as a secret code to avoid religious persecution. The fish symbol is representative of fertility in many cultures.
